10-17-2021 Expedition

On October 17th, 2021, team members Brent Ekstrom and Nathan Kniefel set out to explore more of the southern Minnesota river valleys. This expedition led them to find a clear sign of predation, the victim being a whitetail deer.

While deer in minnesota are a common prey item for wolves and mountain lions, this one had a major detail that proved to raise more questions than answers: it had a snapped hind leg, as if something had ambushed the deer, grabbed a hold of its leg, and snapped it clean to subdue it.
