NMBO started in December of 2019 when Founder Nathan Kniefel came across an unkown trackway in Hubbard county. Ever since then, our group has been camping with an open mind and keen eye. Every excursion into the wilderness carries its own risks, and now with the idea of a large unknown ape roaming around, anything is possible.Â

Our team is all about leaving no trace behind when we do research. We camp minimally and focus our efforts in unpopulated areas in the Minnesota wilderness. We follow natural resource patterns, like vegetation growth and animal game trails. We look into eyewitness reporting and localize our efforts around reported sightings.
To the left is a common example of how our researchers set up basecamp.
